Primus
Primus is a community-based day service center within Aspire’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) program. The program supports adults ages 18 and older in building independence, confidence, and a greater sense of fulfillment. Operating Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM in Dougherty, Worth, and Baker counties, Primus provides a supportive environment where individuals can pursue personalized goals in a welcoming, inclusive setting. Because every individual is unique, Primus uses an individualized approach to ensure activities align with each person’s strengths, needs, and aspirations.
Tailored programs blend practical skill-building with enjoyable experiences to foster growth, socialization, and real-world readiness. Key offerings include:
- Socialization and life skills training, such as learning addresses, phone numbers, practicing personal hygiene, or building confidence in group settings.
- Community outings that allow individuals to practice essential skills, such as handling money, counting change, and making purchases in real-life settings.
- Creative and recreational activities, including karaoke, dancing, yoga, and music, that encourage joy, self-expression, and connections with peers.
- Individualized support that recognizes each person’s abilities, needs, and goals rather than making assumptions based on diagnosis.
Success at Primus
Success at Primus is measured by personal milestones, both big and small, that mark progress toward independence. For one individual, progress meant moving from limited verbal communication to engaging in lively conversations. For another, recognizing a coin such as a penny may represent a meaningful step toward confidence, independence, and accomplishment.
As part of Aspire’s regional network of I/DD day services, Primus helps individuals not just learn skills but thrive as valued community members. For more information or to explore enrollment, contact Primus at 229-430-4138.
